Since I commenced self-employment in 1987 I have been totally dedicated to the architectural profession. I have been involved in residential, industrial and commercial projects throughout this period. I have experienced the transformation from manual drawing boards to computer aided draughting (CAD) and welcome the technology changes of the ever progressing three dimensional techniques of producing documentation.
With the change of regulations I became an LBP with a Design 3 Licence. I have continued being a professional member of ADNZ and have supported the industry through various committees and advisory groups and memberships such as Weltec and Standards New Zealand. I am continually upskilling my work through professional development by regularly attending seminars and conferences.
I have assisted Councils with their process and relationship with the architectural profession. I am well experienced in construction administration, managing many building projects with the absolute satisfaction of providing a full service to our clients.
Outside of work I follow the traditional Kiwi sports of cricket and rugby. I am actively involved in the sports of golf, running and swimming.
In 2002 I commenced employment at Design Network Architecture Ltd while completing my studies for a Bachelor of Building Science from Victoria University. Every day in this profession brings new challenges and opportunities to improve. Each successfully completed project brings a sense of pride while already searching for a way to achieve better on the next. My experience provides me with a strong background to resolve projects for my clients.
I am a Licensed Building Practitioner with a Design (Area of Practice 2) License and was part of a work group interviewed about the skills maintenance of the scheme which was subsequently implemented. I am fully committed to professional development by attending seminars and conferences, reading industry publications and research of new technology systems. As well as being a member of DANZ, I also am part of the Hutt Valley Property Network.
With experience in managing construction on site including holding site induction meetings and toolbox talks, I have an appreciation for the challenges for construction of our projects. I hold a Site Safe consultants’ passport. Another area of the industry that I’m passionate about is shading and solar dazzle. This draws on my Building Science education towards analysing and demonstrating whether any potential effects from a building will occur.
An ambition for each of my projects is to achieve a successful outcome for my client whatever this means for them. This consideration helps to focus on what is important as a project outcome and ensures our work is for the benefit of our client, not some alternative agenda. The most enjoyable aspect of my role is knowing a client is excited about the outcome of their project and what we have been able to achieve for them.
My interest outside of architecture and the building industry is sport. I participate in BMX racing and am actively involved with the Wainuiomata BMX Club as the clubs senior trainer. I am a loyal Phoenix FC fan and enjoy participating in many other sporting events and leisure activities.
